About Project Udaan
Project Udaan is a path breaking effort to create Safe Haven for the Children of Indian Sex Workers and helping them to get back to mainstream of society by providing loving and compassionate care with access to Healthcare, Education, Skills training and self growth.
Inspired by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Founder of Art of Living Foundation. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is a humanitarian and spiritual leader, an ambassador of peace and human values. Through his life and work, Sri Sri has inspired millions around the world with a vision of a stress-free, violence-free world.
Nutritional deficiencies • Minimal healthcare • Social exclusion • Discrimination • Violation of basic rights • Abuse within & outside school • Disjoint family structure • Financial limitations to pursue education
Sex workers face stigma and discrimination and ostracised in society. Sex trade is not legalised. Children of CSW are victims of their circumstances from birth, denied the opportunity to be free of their background, and deprived of an environment conducive to healthy physical and psychological development.
Education is the biggest equalizer. Our Goal is to provide education and safe living environment to the rescued children. To identify and resolve issues, leading to improving their overall living conditions.
Build a residential school away from the brothels.Rescue child sex workers and at risk children, raise them as our own by providing free food, shelter, clothing, medical help, education, vocational training and HOPE.
Overseas Volunteer for a Better India (OVBI) launched in May 2013, is driven by a group of inspired NRIs ready to support initiatives in India and tackle issues the Indian community faces in the U.S. Our movement’s roots are grounded in the Volunteer for a Better India (VBI) movement.
